Miguel Anxo Fernández Lores is a Galician physician and politician born on June 7, 1954, in Vilalonga, Sanxenxo. He has served as the mayor of Pontevedra since 1999, representing the BNG party. Lores studied medicine at the University of Santiago de Compostela and practiced in various locations before becoming mayor. He was first elected as a councilor in 1987 and led the local BNG group to gain ten council members by 1999, allowing him to govern. He has since maintained a coalition with the PSdG party after successful elections in 2003 and 2007.
