She began her career in 2005 as an idol with the J-pop group AKB48 (Team A) but left in June 2007 to pursue a solo career. Shortly after, she released the song 'Boku no Hana' for the film Densen Uta under the alias 'Michiko Goi'. In 2009, she launched herself as Michiru Hoshino with a mini-album and adopted the stage name 'Michiru' written in romaji in July 2010.
