Michiaki Itō (November 16, 1935 - September 26, 2015) was a Japanese haiku poet born in Fukuma, Fukuoka Prefecture. He graduated from the Department of English Literature at Seinan Gakuin University. Influenced by the works of Atsushi Anzai, he began writing haiku during his university years. In 1962, he founded and edited the literary magazine 'Barefoot.' He joined the 'Shunto' group in 1967, studying under Anzai. In 1986, he renamed 'Barefoot' to 'Delicate Peach' and continued to lead. His haiku are known for their fresh, lyrical quality, with notable works including 'The evening moon rests on my palm a pulsing peach.'
