Michael John Dawson Walker, Baron Walker of Aldringham, born on July 7, 1944, in Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia, is a retired British Army officer. He was commissioned in 1966 and served in various roles, including Cyprus and Northern Ireland, eventually leading an armored brigade in Germany. Walker commanded NATO's Allied Rapid Reaction Corps during the 1995 Balkan operation and received the U.S. Meritorious Service Medal. He became Chief of the General Staff in 2000 and later led all UK armed forces. Retiring in 2006, he served as Governor of the Royal Chelsea Hospital until 2011.
