Selwyn Michael Griffin, also known as Michael Griffin, is a British surgeon and clinical researcher born on February 7, 1955. He specializes in the early diagnosis and treatment of gastric and oesophageal cancer. Griffin was an upper gastrointestinal surgeon at the Royal Victoria Infirmary and has been a professor at the University of Newcastle since 1999. He founded the Northern Oesophagogastric Cancer Unit, was president of AUGIS and ESDE, and chaired the JCIE. He was honored with an OBE in 2013 and became the President of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2018.
