Michael G. Carter is a contemporary British-Australian scholar specializing in Arabic linguistics, particularly in the grammar theories of Sibawayh. He serves as an honorary professor of Arabic at the University of Oslo and is affiliated with the Centre for Medieval Studies at the University of Sydney. He is renowned for his contributions to Arabic grammar and was honored with a festschrift in 2006. In recognition of his work, he received the King Faisal Prize in 2022.
