Michael Fahres is a German composer born on April 15, 1951, in Bamberg. He has lived in the Netherlands since 1973. Fahres studied German studies, theater studies, music, and philosophy, and later composition. He directed the Center for Electronic Music from 1976 to 1998 and is associated with the Dutch public broadcasting in Utrecht. He initiated the 'European Minimal Music' project in 1979 and proposed the 'Sunwheel' project in 1990 for the Prix Italia.
