Metropolitan Antoni was a prominent figure in the Orthodox Church in Belarus and served as a hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church. Born in 1924 in Moscow, he was a doctor of theology and held the position of the 32nd Metropolitan of Leningrad from 1978 to 1986. He was also the Metropolitan of Minsk and Belarus from 1965 to 1978 and served as the rector of the Minsk Spiritual Seminary. Renowned for his historical research on the Orthodox Church in Belarus, he compiled a collection of ancient Belarusian textiles.
