Meïr Stein (September 12, 1920 – September 24, 1995) was a Danish art historian renowned for his versatile research, teaching, and writing. He earned his mag.art. degree in 1950 and served at the University of Copenhagen from 1954 to 1990, initially as a lecturer in art history and later in theater studies. Influenced by Erwin Panofsky's iconological method, his notable works include 'The Italian Renaissance Theater' (1969) and 'Idea and Form in French Art: From Baroque to Impressionism' (1981). He is buried at the Jewish West Cemetery.
