Professor Dr. Mazharul Islam (July 1, 1929 - November 14, 2003) was a renowned cultural figure in Bangladesh, known for his contributions as a writer, researcher, educator, anthropologist, folklorist, poet, storyteller, organizer, and entrepreneur. He served as the vice-chancellor of Rajshahi University and was the first director of the Bangla Academy. His significant contributions to education were recognized by the government of Bangladesh, which awarded him the Ekushey Padak in 2023.
