Max Schraudolf (May 17, 1918 - November 1999) was a German folk musician from Allgäu, dedicated to preserving the Scherrzither, an archaic zither type with 2 to 3 strings, which was nearly extinct in the early 20th century. He learned to play the instrument after encountering August Bader, its last known player, and spent his life promoting it. Schraudolf gained regional fame in 1958 through a performance with Rudi Knabl in the radio show 'Das bairische Herz'. Today, the Scherrzither is recognized as a unique instrument of the Allgäu region.
