Matthias Lackas was a German bookseller and publisher, born on November 28, 1905, in Merzig, and died on May 29, 1968, in Munich. During World War II, he was a manager at Versandbuchhandlung Arnold and became embroiled in a corruption scandal involving military offices. After the war, he founded Perlen-Verlag in 1949, which achieved significant success with a book on etiquette. Lackas also established a book community that merged into Bertelsmann Lesering. He initiated the Matthias Lackas Foundation, focused on cancer research.
