Masato Hoashi (January 8, 1919 - March 15, 1942) was a Japanese naval officer who reached the rank of Navy Reserve Lieutenant. He served as the pilot of the reconnaissance aircraft that discovered the British fleet during the Battle of the Malayan Sea. His military career, however, was cut short when he died in action in 1942.
