Masao Morishita was a Japanese kamishibai performer born on October 20, 1923, in Arakawa, Tokyo. He dedicated his life to the art of kamishibai from the post-war period, when it was at its peak, through its decline during Japan's rapid economic growth, and continuing into the 21st century. Morishita contributed to the preservation of children's culture. Notably, after losing his voice due to laryngeal cancer and surgery, he continued to perform using recorded tapes of his earlier performances.
