Masami Satô was a Japanese botanist, born on July 16, 1910, in Yamagata Prefecture, Japan. He earned his Doctor of Science degree from Tokyo Imperial University in 1942. Known as an authority on lichenology, he later became a professor emeritus at Ibaraki University. Satô contributed significantly to the field of botany and was recognized for his expertise in the study of lichens. He passed away on August 30, 1984.
