Mary Jo Chelette was an American country singer born on May 13, 1939, in Port Arthur, Texas, known for performing with her sisters as The Chelette Sisters. She made her mark in music history by being the first artist to release a record for Starday Records in 1953. Despite neutral reviews for her debut single, she continued to release several more solo singles. Chelette performed extensively, making up to fifteen personal appearances a month by the end of 1953, and was featured alongside Elvis Presley in a benefit concert in 1955.
