Mary Coco Maltez de Callejas was a prominent Nicaraguan feminist, educator, and politician associated with the Somozista Nationalist Liberal Party. A key figure in women's rights, she co-founded the Union of American Women and Ala Femenina, serving as vice president and later president. She became one of the first three women elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 1957, serving until 1979, and held the position of Minister of Education from 1969 to 1979. In her later years, she was active in the Alliance of Pan American Round Tables.
