He served on the board of the Association of Austrian Cinematographers and was involved in over 60 productions from the mid-1980s until his death. Tragically, Stingl passed away from a heart attack and was laid to rest in Gutenstein. His work in the film industry has left a lasting impact on the Austrian cinema landscape.
