Martin Holm was born on December 18, 1909, in Hvalba. He graduated as a teacher from Vordingborg Seminarium in 1933 and worked in various teaching positions in Denmark before returning to the Faroe Islands in 1945. He served at Føroya millum- og realskúla in Tórshavn and became an adjunct and then principal of Føroya Læraraskúla in 1965. Politically active, he represented the People's Party from 1946 to 1954, chaired the Faroese Sports Association from 1946 to 1962, and was editor of 'Ítróttartíðindi' from 1947 to 1961. He died in a plane crash on September 26, 1970.
