He is currently affiliated with the University of Essex, where he serves as the dean for international affairs within the School of Computer Science & Electronic Engineering. His previous role includes being the head of the department of computer science from 2000 to 2006. With significant contributions to his field, he holds fellowships in both the British Computer Society and the Royal Society of Arts.
