Martin Biles was an American javelin thrower born on March 30, 1919, in San Diego. He became notable for qualifying for the 1948 London Olympics, where he placed sixth. Biles was a two-time US champion, winning the title in 1943 and 1944. His collegiate achievements include winning the NCAA title while studying at the University of California, Berkeley in 1940 and 1941. He recorded his personal best throw of 70.10 meters on June 25, 1949, in Fresno, California. He passed away on August 25, 2017, in Houston.
