Martijn Voorvelt is a Dutch composer, musicologist, guitarist, and vocalist born on December 20, 1967, in Amsterdam. He holds a PhD in musicology. In 1994, he won the EOE-Optiebeursprijs for his composition 'Raging, building' for violin. Since then, his works have been performed at various festivals, including Gaudeamus Muziekweek in 1997 and 2004, the Grachtenfestival in Amsterdam, and the ISCM World Music Days.
