Martha Sălcudean (née Abel; 1934 – 17 July 2019) was a prominent expert in computational fluid dynamics and made history as Canada's first female head of a university engineering department. Born in Cluj, Romania, she belonged to a Jewish family and survived the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. After enduring years under totalitarian regimes, she immigrated to Canada in 1976, where she received numerous provincial and national engineering accolades. Sălcudean's contributions to engineering education and research were widely acknowledged before her passing on 17 July 2019.
