Martha Otte is an accomplished festival director who served as the festival and program director at the Tromsø International Film Festival from 2005 to 2020. Born on September 15, 1951, in Salinas, California, she moved to Norway in 1974 and settled in Tromsø in 1982. Otte holds a Cand. Philol. degree in philosophy from the University of Tromsø, focusing on moral philosopher Alasdair MacIntyre in her 1993 thesis. She was the chair of the Norwegian Film Club Federation from 1996 to 2002 and received the Troms County cultural prize in 2014.
