Karl Markus Båth (1916-2000) was a Swedish meteorologist and seismologist known for establishing seismology as an independent academic discipline in Sweden. He earned his degrees from Uppsala University, where he later served as an assistant and docent. Båth contributed substantially to the study of earthquakes in Fennoscandia and published over 300 articles in his field. He held leadership positions in seismological research and represented Sweden at various international geophysical congresses.
