Mark Allen Srednicki is an American theoretical physicist born on September 26, 1955, in Cleveland. He specializes in particle physics and quantum field theory. Srednicki earned his doctorate in 1980 at Stanford University under Leonard Susskind. In 1986, he became a Sloan Research Fellow. Currently, he is a professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara. In 1981, he proposed the DFSZ model of nearly 'invisible' axions with Michael Dine and Willy Fischler, an idea that Ariel Zhitnitsky also suggested independently in the Soviet Union.
