Mark Covert, born on November 17, 1950, is an American runner known for having the second-longest running streak in the world, lasting 45 years from 1968 to 2013. He represented the USA in the 1972 Olympic marathon trials, finishing seventh. Covert was the first to cross the finish line wearing Nike shoes, earning him a place in the Nike Hall of Fame. A two-time NCAA Champion, he set a community college record for the 6-mile run and has coached cross-country at Antelope Valley College since 1990. His running achievements include over 151,000 miles completed.
