María Luisa Fernández Casielles, known artistically as Marixa, was a Basque painter born in Oviedo in 1914 and passed away in Baiona in 1995. After working as a nurse supporting the Republic during the Spanish Civil War, she was exiled to Baiona, where she became immersed in the art world. She lived between Baiona and Uxue and supported young Basque artists. In 1960, she co-founded the group 'Le Grenier d'Ustaritz' with Paul Rambié.
