Mário Andreazza was a Brazilian military officer and politician born on August 20, 1918, in Caxias do Sul and passed away on April 19, 1988, in São Paulo. He served as Minister of Transport under Presidents Artur da Costa e Silva and Emílio Garrastazu Médici, overseeing major infrastructure projects like the Rio-Niterói Bridge and the Transamazonian Highway. He was also a strong advocate for Brazil's merchant marine. Later, as Minister of the Interior under João Baptista Figueiredo, he implemented the Promorar housing program, which helped eradicate numerous favelas.
