Marie-France Tristan (1942-2022) was a French academic specializing in Baroque literature, particularly the works of Italian poet Giambattista Marino. She was born in Grenoble and served as a lecturer at Paris IV-Sorbonne from 1971 to 2002. Tristan earned her doctorate in literature in 1999 and was instrumental in rehabilitating Marino's image in literary circles. She was married to Frederick Tristan, a writer who won the Goncourt Prize in 1983.
