Marie-Christiane de Corswarem, born on October 18, 1933, in Sint-Lenaarts, is the founder and first president of Make-A-Wish Foundation Belgium. Inspired by an article about the American Make-A-Wish Foundation in 1988, she established the Belgian branch in 1990. Coming from the noble Corswarem family, she held the title of 'jonkvrouw' at birth and married a physician in 1957, with whom she had six children. In recognition of her dedication, she received the title of baroness from King Albert II in 2007.
