Mariano Ferrer Ruiz (September 11, 1939 - July 14, 2019) was a Basque journalist and radio announcer known for founding and directing the newspaper Egin. He became a prominent journalistic figure in the Basque Country since the 1970s and served as the deputy director of Radio Popular de San Sebastián from 1971 to 1977 before becoming the first director of Egin in 1977. Ferrer was noted for his political independence in journalism, though critics claimed he leaned towards the left. He wrote two books after retiring, focusing on judicial processes against the leftist movement.
