Mariano Abalo Costa is a Galician independentist politician and public servant. He previously served as Secretary General of the Unión do Povo Galego until its split in 1986 when he founded the Partido Comunista de Liberación Nacional. In July 1988, he established the Fronte Popular Galega (FPG). He has served as a provincial deputy for Pontevedra and as mayor of Cangas do Morrazo. Abalo has frequently run for the Galician Parliament but has not secured a seat. In the 2007 municipal elections, he was a candidate for the Alternativa Canguesa de Esquerdas (ACE) in Cangas.
