Marian Wright Edelman is an American child rights activist and the founder and president of the Children's Defense Fund. She graduated from Yale University and began her career in the 1960s. Edelman later moved to Washington, D.C., where she managed Martin Luther King Jr.'s Poor People's Campaign before his assassination. Her dedication to advocating for children's rights has made her a prominent figure in social justice movements.
