María Isabel 'Chicha' Chorobik de Mariani was a prominent Argentine human rights activist, born on November 19, 1923, in San Rafael, Mendoza, and passed away in La Plata on August 20, 2018. She was a founding member and the second president of the Asociación Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo, an organization dedicated to finding the children stolen during Argentina's dictatorship. In 1996, after leaving the organization, she established the Asociación Anahí in honor of her disappeared granddaughter, Clara Anahí Mariani, and led it until her death.
