María Esther García López, born on December 8, 1948, in Valdés, is a poet and writer in Asturian and Spanish. She serves as the current president of the Asociación d'Escritores d'Asturies. With a degree in pedagogy and expertise in Asturian philology, she is a corresponding member of the Academia de la Llingua Asturiana. María served as a professor at the University of Asturias (UABRA) for 25 years and has participated as a juror in various literary contests and poetry recitals.
