Mari Källersjö is a Swedish naturalist and taxonomist born on December 24, 1954, in Stockholm. She completed her PhD at the University of Gothenburg in 1990, focused on the morphology, taxonomy, and cladistics of Southern African Asteraceae. After earning her doctorate, she worked for two years in molecular methodologies at the Smithsonian Institution. In 1992, she returned to Sweden to establish an DNA laboratory at the Swedish Museum of Natural History. Since October 2008, she has been the director of the Gothenburg Botanical Garden.
