Margarete Schmid (1925-2000) was an honorary member of the German Esperanto Association and Bavarian Esperanto League (BELO). She learned Esperanto in 1947 and actively worked as a delegate in Regensburg and as a secretary after moving to Augsburg. A co-founder of BELO, she served for years and supported her husband, Hermann Schmid, in organizing Esperanto events and congresses. Honored with the Margarete Schmid award, she played a crucial role in BELO's history and contributed culturally to Esperanto celebrations. She passed away shortly after her 75th birthday.
