Margaret Mee (née Brown) was a British artist born on May 22, 1909, in Whitehill, Chesham, known for her specialization in Amazonian rainforest plants. She passed away on November 30, 1988, in Seagrave. In 1976, she was honored with the Order of the British Empire for her contributions to art and environmental advocacy. Mee was one of the early environmentalists to raise awareness about the impact of large-scale mining and deforestation in the Amazon rainforest. Many of her works were compiled and published posthumously.
