Marcos Aurelio Díaz Domínguez, born on January 12, 1975, is a prominent Dominican ultra-distance swimmer known for his remarkable achievements in open water swimming. He made history as the first swimmer to swim across all five continents. Notable accomplishments include traversing the English Channel in 2004, swimming across Gibraltar in 2005, and winning a competition in the Bhagirathi River in 2006. He swam around Manhattan in 2007 and completed his five-continent swim in 2010 to promote the UN Millennium Development Goals. He was inducted into the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame in 2011.
