Marcia McNutt is an American geophysicist born on February 19, 1952. She is the 22nd president of the National Academy of Sciences in the USA and served as the editor-in-chief of the journal Science from 2013 to 2016. McNutt has held various academic positions, including as a distinguished professor at Scripps Institution of Oceanography and as a professor of marine geophysics at Stanford University. She was also the 15th director of the United States Geological Survey, being the first woman to hold this position.
