Marcello Truzzi (September 6, 1935 - February 2, 2003) was an American sociologist and academic who served as a professor of sociology at New College of Florida and then Eastern Michigan University. He was a co-founder of the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal and the founder of the Society for Scientific Exploration. Truzzi was known for his investigations into pseudoscience and was referred to as the 'skeptic's skeptic' by his colleague Paul Kurtz. He is credited with the phrase 'extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence'.
