Marcel Liesdek is a retired Dutch professional footballer, born on September 13, 1959, in Paramaribo. He played during his career for several clubs, including Telstar, HFC Haarlem, Fortuna Sittard, FC Utrecht, and South China AA. Known for being a tough defender, Liesdek made many fouls on the field. He captained the Suriname national team, also known as the 'Kleurrijk Elftal,' many of whom tragically perished in a plane crash. He missed that flight due to contract negotiations with his club. After a suspension at FC Utrecht, he ended his career in Hong Kong in 1996.
