Marcel Gustaaf Leys (1931-2015) was a Belgian politician and mayor from the PVV party. He began his political career in Berlare where he became mayor in 1965, serving until 1976. Leys was instrumental in improving the drinking water supply during his tenure. After a shift in the political landscape, he later received the title of honorary mayor. Leys was also a member of the provincial council in East Flanders. His interviews contributed to the television series 'Meneer de Burgemeester' reflecting on his political life.
