He studied violin and cello as a child and composed his first piece, a string quartet, at age 16, which was performed widely in Romania. He continued his education in composition under notable mentors and wrote various compositions including a symphony, orchestral works, and chamber music. He was a cellist for the Budapest Symphony Orchestra before relocating to the USA.
