Marc van Oostendorp is a Dutch linguist and professor at Radboud University in Nijmegen. He specializes in phonology, particularly microvariation, dialectology, and interlinguistics. In 1997, he became the youngest professor in the Netherlands when appointed as an associate professor of Esperanto and interlinguistics at the University of Amsterdam. He has been involved with the Meertens Institute since 1999 and served as a professor at Leiden University from 2007. Van Oostendorp contributes to the journal Onze Taal and focuses on popularizing linguistic research.
