Marc Stassijns was a Belgian sports reporter born on January 10, 1939, in Dendermonde. He worked for over 30 years at VRT, starting his career as a sports journalist in 1961 focusing initially on radio. He provided commentary for the Tour de France from 1963 to 1989 and later moved to television in the mid-1980s. Stassijns conducted a famous interview with Muhammad Ali, who answered from his bed. He led the sports department from 1991 until his retirement in 1999 and passed away at the age of 78.
