Marc Lackenby is a British mathematician born on August 28, 1972, known for his work in knot theory and low-dimensional topology. He completed his studies at the University of Cambridge and obtained his PhD in 1997 under W. B. R. Lickorish. Since 2006, he has been a professor at the University of Oxford and was previously a Miller Research Fellow at UC Berkeley. His notable contributions include proving an upper bound on the number of Reidemeister moves for unknot diagrams. He has received several awards, including the Whitehead Prize and the Philip Leverhulme Prize.
