José Manuel Ortega Heredia, known as Manzanita, was a Spanish flamenco singer, composer, and guitarist born in Madrid on February 7, 1956. He was surrounded by flamenco culture and was the nephew of famous singer Manolo Caracol. Noticed for his distinct voice, he began playing guitar in flamenco venues at the age of 9, and by 11, he accompanied Enrique Morente. He started his singing career with the group Los Chorbos and embarked on a solo career in 1978, achieving numerous awards and successes before his death.
