Manuel Azcárate Diz was a notable Spanish politician and leader of the Communist Party of Spain throughout much of the 20th century. Born in Madrid in 1916, he was highly involved in leftist politics from a young age. After the Spanish Civil War, he went into exile in Paris, working for the PCE's official publications. He was a member of the PCE's Central Committee and participated in significant political activities post-Franco. An advocate of Eurocommunism, conflicts within the party led to his eventual expulsion. He later worked as a columnist and published notable works on socialism and politics.
